The tyre size 195/70 VR14 is not a terribly common tyre size for classic cars. it should be approximately 195 mm wide, where the side wall height is 70% of 195 mm, suited to fitting on a 14” wheel. The PIRELLI CINTURATO ™ CN36 came out in 1968 and was one of the first low profile radial tyres and was very much the tyre of choice for the hottest sports cars of the late 1960s and 1970s.
Many cars in period that fitted a 175 R14 or a 185 R14 for which a 195/70 VR 14 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36 would be an excellent low profile sporty alternative.195/70 VR14 Tyre Fitment
The fabulous Alfa Romeo Montreal left the factory with the cutting edge 195/70 VR 14 PIRELLI CINTURATO CN36 as standard equipment. 195/70 R14 tyres were also fitted to wide range of BMW 5 Series, BMW 6 Series, BMW 7 Series, and BMW 3 Series. Lots of Mercedes-Benz 280 and Mercedes-Benz 230 fitted 195/70 VR14 tyres as did TVR on their 3000M Turbo and Taimar Turbo.
The Datsun 240Z Fairlady fitted 175R14 tyres as standard, but 195/70 VR14 tyres were often fitted as an alternative as 195/70 VR14 was original on the later Datsun 260Z and 280Z. The 195/70 VR14 Pirelli Cinturato CN36 is also an excellent low profile option for the MGB GT V8, Rover SD1 Vitesse, Triumph Stag and Peugeot 504.
