Fiat 1400 & 1900 Tyres (1950–1958)
Fiat 1400 Tyres (1950–1956)
- The Fiat 1400 (1950–1954), Fiat 1400 A (1954–1956), and Fiat 1400 B (1956–1958) petrol models were originally fitted with 590 - 14 cross-ply tyres.
- No premium crossply tyres are currently made in this size, we suggest switching to radial tyres.
- The best radial equivalent for 590 – 14 crossply is 165 R14.
- Longstone’s recommended 165 R14 Fiat 1400 tyre is the 165 HR 14 PIRELLI CINTURATO CA67.
1950 Fiat 1400
1954 Fiat 1900 A
Fiat 1900 Tyres (1952–1958)
The Fiat 1900 was introduced in 1952 as a more powerful and better-equipped model positioned above the Fiat 1400. All Fiat 1900 variants were fitted with wider tyres to suit their increased weight and performance.
Fiat 1900 and Fiat 1900 A Tyres (1952–1956)
- The Fiat 1900 (1952–1954) and Fiat 1900 A (1954–1956) models were originally fitted with 640 - 14 crossply tyres. Today, top quality crossply tyres are not made in this size, we suggest switching to radial tyres.
- The ideal radial equivalent size is 185 R14. In this size, our recommended Fiat 1900 and 1900 A tyre is the 185 HR 14 Michelin MXV-P.
Fiat 1900 B and Fiat 1900 B Granluce Tyres (1956–1958)
- The Fiat 1900 B (1956–1958), including the Granluce models, also fitted 640 - 14 tyres as original equipment.
- Longstone’s recommended Fiat 1900 B and 1900 B Granluce tyre is the 185 HR 14 Michelin MXV-P.
1956 Fiat 1900 B Saloon and Full Light
1957 Fiat 1400 B Diesel
Fiat 1400 Diesel Tyres
The diesel model was known as the Fiat 1400 D for marketing and taxation purposes, though in fact the diesel engine had a capacity of 1.9 litres and was mechanically closer to the Fiat 1900 than the petrol 1400, sharing its larger engine capacity, increased front axle load, and tyre fitment.
- The Fiat 1400 Diesel fitted 640 - 14 crossply tyres rather than the smaller tyres used on petrol 1400s.
- Longstone’s recommended Fiat 1400 D tyre in this size is the 185 HR 14 Michelin MXV-P.
Fiat 1400 and Fiat 1900 Innertubes
- Most Fiat 1400 and early Fiat 1900 models were supplied with tube-type wheels and require innertubes when fitted with crossply or radial tyres.
- The correct innertube for 590 – 14 and 165 R14 tyres is the Michelin 14D.
- The correct innertube for 640 – 14 and 185 R14 tyres is the Michelin 14F.
- Some later models were equipped with tubeless wheels, if you have one of these models then innertubes are not mandatory provided that your wheels are in good condition.
- In order to drive without innertubes, both the tyre and the wheel have to be tubeless (TL) type.
