History of the Cadillac Sixty Special
The Cadillac Sixty Special (sometimes referred to as the Fleetwood Sixty Special) started out as a name used to denote the special extended wheelbase version of the Series 60. The Sixty Special was a unique contender within the luxury car market at the time as it was intended to be an owner-driven car instead of a Chauffeur driven car. The wheelbase of the Sixty Special was 3 inches longer than the Series 60 and an X shaped frame was developed to allow the car to sit in it. This meant that the car was 3 inches lower without a sacrifice in headroom and the car had the stiffest chassis on the market. The first generation was powered by Cadillac's standard 130 5.7L V8 engine.
